We digitise your operations and loan book, put the capital you already have to work through short mobile loans, then help you bring in more once your SACCO is ready for it.
Hundreds of cooperatives are powered by Wakandi, moving millions of dollars every month through digital channels.
They apply, receive and repay without walking into a branch. Mobile loan apps and bank overdrafts answer in seconds, at rates your SACCO could beat. Every one of those loans is a loan you can't make until your members can do the same with you.
And those apps only reach the members holding a smartphone. You can reach all of them.
Every SACCO we work with runs the same three steps. It starts with your data, runs on your capital, and ends with more capital than you started with.
Paper and manual routines hide money and opportunities. Once your loan book, your shares, and your arrears sit in one system, things surface: dormant accounts, arrears nobody chased, loans that were never closed out. Most SACCOs find money that was already theirs.
Today a member takes one loan a year and repays it over twelve months. That shilling works once. Move part of your book to short mobile loans and the same shilling goes out 12 times in the same year to a broader set of members. Same capital. More lending. More income and a better experience for your members.
A digital loan book with a repayment history is something a lender can price. Once yours has one, we work closely with partners that can put capital alongside your own, so you lend beyond your deposits without going out to find a lender yourself. The credit reaches your members through your SACCO, never directly to the member.
Not every SACCO qualifies. The ones that do qualify on their own data and performance, which is why steps one and two come first to get the basics right.
Members with a smartphone use the app. Everyone else uses a USSD code or SMS — same account, same loan, same SACCO. Your oldest member with the oldest handset is on the system from day one, once onboarding is done.
Smartphone members download the Wakandi app and open your SACCO inside it to see their balances, apply for loans, make repayments, and more.
A short code from any handset. No smartphone, no data, no downloads.
Same account, same loan, but by text message. Every confirmation reaches every phone.
On the phone they already own — smartphone or not.
School fees, stock for the shop, the bill nobody planned for.
An institution that is bigger next year than it is today.
Members download the Wakandi app and open your SACCO inside it. Nobody appears there on their own — a member exists in your SACCO only once your admin adds them. You keep control.
You set the products. You set the rates. You approve the loan. The loan sits on your book, under your name. The deposits are yours. The member data is yours.
It comes through your SACCO, on your paper, or it does not come at all.
The beauty of our platform? When you grow, we grow!
Wakandi holds a Payment Service Provider licence from the Central Bank of Kenya. Every disbursement and every repayment runs on that licence through our banking partner and M-Pesa in Kenya.
Many providers claim to be licensed. We are licensed, and we are regulated.
Every movement recorded lays the foundation for trust — between us and your SACCO, and between your SACCO and its members. The audit trail is ready for your board, your auditors, and the regulator.
You don't need to do an integration, buy a server, or install anything.
The three steps run on CAMS, our core banking platform for SACCOs and MFIs. It is live with institutions in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania today.
Your staff work in a browser, nothing to install, nothing to maintain, and it runs on the connection your office actually has. Your members reach you through the app, a USSD code, or SMS.
We thought our book was clean. In the first month we found [X] members in arrears nobody had followed up and [X] dormant accounts. That was our own money sitting still.[Name], [Title], [SACCO Name] SACCO, [County] Placeholder
Before, a member borrowed once a year. Now the same member borrows in January for school fees and again in March for stock. We have not added one shilling of new capital and our lending is up [X] per cent.[Name], [Title], [SACCO Name] SACCO, [County] Placeholder
The board took three meetings on this one. What settled it was our own repayment history — we were not asking anyone to take our word for it.[Name], Board Chair, [SACCO Name] SACCO, [County] Placeholder
I asked what happens to our name. Members open the app and the first thing they see is [SACCO Name]. The loan is ours, the rate is ours, the member is ours.[Name], [Title], [SACCO Name] SACCO, [County] Placeholder
Digitising takes weeks, not years — and step one is where the money you already have shows up. Bring your loan book to our Nairobi team and we will go through it with you.
